Who Was Bishop Allan Kiuna? Senior Pastor Of Jubilee Christian Church Passes Away At 58

Bishop Allan Kiuna, co-founder and senior pastor of Jubilee Christian Church (JCC) in Nairobi, has passed away at the age of 58. According to a family spokesperson, he died on Thursday in a Nairobi hospital following a deterioration in his condition. Bishop Kiuna had been battling multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, since around 2018.

Who was Bishop Kiuna?

Born and raised in Kenya, Bishop Kiuna and his wife Kathy founded Jubilee Christian Church in January 1999 with a vision to build a vibrant community of faith. Under their leadership, JCC grew to prominence in Nairobi, known for its dynamic services and outreach programs.

Friends and family gathered at his residence in Runda to mourn his loss. His wife, Bishop Kathy Kiuna, who also serves as a senior pastor at JCC, expressed profound sorrow over his passing.

Jubilee Christian Church issued a statement late on Tuesday confirming his death and requested privacy for the family during this difficult time. The statement described Bishop Kiuna as an extraordinary man who had a profound impact on many lives through his ministry, both locally and globally.

Diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2018, Bishop Kiuna underwent treatment both locally and internationally, including a year-long treatment in the United States. He declared himself cancer-free in late 2023 during a thanksgiving ceremony, attributing his recovery to divine intervention.

Condolences poured in from various leaders, including President William Ruto, who described Bishop Kiuna as a dedicated Christian leader who inspired many. President Ruto expressed solidarity with Bishop Kathy Kiuna and her family, praying for strength during this period of mourning.

Deputy President’s wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, also paid tribute to Bishop Kiuna, recognizing him as a courageous leader in spreading the Word of God.

Bishop Kiuna is survived by his wife of 29 years, Rev. Kathy Kiuna, and their three children.
