WHO Warning: Avoid These 5 Foods That ‘Hollow Out the Body Like Termites’

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently highlighted certain foods that, when consumed frequently, can pose significant health risks. Regular intake of these foods has been linked to serious conditions like obesity, heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Below, we’ll explore six such unhealthy foods that WHO advises to limit or avoid.

1. Processed Meats

Foods like sausage, ham, and bacon are classified as processed meats and contain high sodium levels. These meats are preserved with chemicals to extend their shelf life, which, according to WHO, may heighten the risk of cancers, particularly colorectal cancer.

2. Sugar-Sweetened Beverages

Sugar-laden drinks, including sodas and energy drinks, are dense in calories. Frequent consumption of these beverages can contribute to weight gain and elevate the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes. WHO recommends opting for water or fresh fruit juices instead for better health outcomes.

3. Trans Fats

Trans fats are often found in packaged snacks, fast food, and margarine, and are detrimental to heart health. These fats raise harmful LDL cholesterol and reduce beneficial HDL cholesterol, leading to an increased risk of heart disease.

4. White Salt

Although salt is essential for iodine intake, exceeding WHO’s recommended limit of 5 grams per day can be harmful. Excessive salt consumption, particularly through foods like chips, canned foods, and fast foods, is linked to high blood pressure and heart disease.

5. White Bread and Refined Grains

White bread, pasta, and refined grains lack fiber and are often high in sugars and calories. They offer minimal nutritional value and can contribute to obesity and related illnesses.

6. High-Sugar Snacks

Sweet snacks such as chocolates, biscuits, and pastries are loaded with sugar, which can lead to weight gain and an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and other health complications.
