IAS officer Sanskriti Jain, a 2015-batch officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has captured public attention with her remarkable career and inspiring life story. Known for her efficiency, empathy, and innovative administrative initiatives, she recently received a royal farewell in Seoni district before taking charge as Commissioner of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Born on 14 February 1989 in Srinagar, Sanskriti Jain comes from a disciplined family with a strong Air Force background. Her father was a fighter pilot, and her mother served in the medical wing of the Indian Air Force. Due to their postings, she studied in six different schools across India, adapting early to change and diversity. Her family’s dedication to public service seems to have inspired her own career. Sanskriti later married Ashutosh Singh, a 2014-batch IPS officer, and the couple has two daughters.
Sanskriti graduated from BITS Pilani (Goa campus) and later joined the LAMP Fellowship. Initially, she planned to pursue a PhD, but on a friend’s suggestion, she attempted the UPSC Civil Services Exam. In her first attempt she has cleared the UPSC exam. In her second attempt: she became an IRS officer and in third attempt she has secured All India Rank 11 and joined the IAS. Her optional subject in UPSC was Philosophy, in which she scored the highest marks in 2014, showcasing both intellect and dedication.
Since joining the IAS in 2015, Sanskriti Jain has held multiple key positions in Madhya Pradesh:
During her 15-month tenure as Seoni Collector, she introduced impactful initiatives such as linking the ‘Ladli Bahen Scheme’ with Atal Pension and launching desk-and-bench gifting programs in primary schools.
Sanskriti Jain’s departure from Seoni became a viral moment on social media. Local government employees and officials gave her a traditional farewell, carrying her and her daughters on a golden palanquin. The event was organized alongside the welcome ceremony of the new Seoni Collector, Sheetala Patle, and left a lasting impression on the district’s residents.
Currently, Sanskriti Jain serves as Commissioner of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) and holds the additional charge of Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited. Her work continues to be praised for combining innovation, empathy, and efficiency.
Sanskriti Jain’s story is an example of perseverance, dedication, and smart decision-making. From a young girl moving across India due to her parents’ Air Force postings to achieving one of the most prestigious positions in Indian administration, she inspires young aspirants, especially women, to pursue their dreams relentlessly.
