Television actor Ashish Kapoor, known for his role as Nikhil Deora in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has been arrested in connection with an alleged rape case. Police said an FIR was registered at Civil Lines police station in Delhi. Kapoor was later tracked to Pune and arrested after moving between different locations.
Born on 17th October 1984 in Delhi, Kapoor started as an interior designer before joining television in 2010 with Ssshhh...Phir Koi Hai. His first big break was with Dekha Ek Khwaab. He worked in shows such as Bandini, Saraswatichandra, Saat Phere, Woh Apna Sa, Molkki, and Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage.
His most prominent role was in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Kapoor's personal life has also been in the spotlight. He dated actress Priyal Gor and model Ilda Kroni. In 2021, he got engaged to TV producer Pearl Grey, but the relationship ended a year later. He has since deleted his Instagram account.

The complainant, a professional from Gurugram, alleged that she was sexually assaulted on August 11 during a house party in Delhi. She claimed Kapoor assaulted her inside a bathroom. Initially, her complaint named Kapoor, his friend, the friend's wife, and two unidentified people. Later, she revised her statement to accuse only Kapoor of rape.
She also alleged that the assault was recorded, though investigators have not found any footage. The complainant further said that the friend's wife assaulted her outside the washroom, the same woman who had called police for help.

Kapoor was reportedly on the run after the FIR. A senior officer told Hindustan Times, "The team has been looking for him. He was earlier traced to Goa, but when the team reached, he slipped away. He was then traced to Pune, where he was found living with a friend and was arrested on Tuesday." Investigations are ongoing, and no charges have been pressed against the other individuals mentioned in the FIR.
