What To Expect From iPhone 16 Launch: 3 Performance Enhancements On The Agenda

Apple’s upcoming “It’s Glowtime” event on September 9 is set to unveil the latest iPhone 16 lineup, which is anticipated to include four new models: the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The event will likely highlight enhancements across displays, cameras, and design. Additionally, rumors suggest significant performance upgrades, including advanced chipsets, improved cooling systems, and increased RAM.

According to macrumors, code in iOS 18 has confirmed that all four iPhone 16 models will feature the next-generation A18 chip. However, there will be distinctions between the Pro and non-Pro models. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are expected to receive the A18 chip, while the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be equipped with the A18 Pro.

Reports indicate that the A18 chip will come with fewer GPU cores compared to the A18 Pro, which will feature a more advanced GPU. Furthermore, the A18 chip will be upgraded with a Neural Engine that has “significantly” more cores, enhancing AI and machine learning capabilities.

In terms of cooling, the new iPhone 16 series is expected to have improved thermal management. Apple is reportedly developing a graphene thermal system for these models, which offers superior thermal conductivity compared to the copper used in current iPhone heat sinks. The iPhone 16 models are also likely to feature a larger graphite sheet. Additionally, the iPhone 16 Pro models may come with a metal battery casing to enhance heat dissipation.

Although Apple typically does not disclose RAM details, reports suggest that the standard iPhone 16 models could come with 8GB of RAM—up from 6GB in the iPhone 15 models—implying that all new models might have the same RAM capacity.
