In a dramatic turn of events, Fátima Bosch of Mexico was crowned Miss Universe 2025, capping off a pageant season marred by public controversy. At the event’s finale, the new winner was presented with a crown of great historical significance, a legendary symbol of victory. For many observers, this poses an intriguing question: what is the true value of the dazzling headpiece that represents global glory?
Cost of Miss Universe Crown
The current Miss Universe crown, known as the “Force for Good” crown, is valued at over $5 million, a sum equivalent to approximately 40 crore rupees. This breathtaking piece of jewelry was crafted by the Swiss luxury brand Mouawad and first introduced in 2022. Carefully set with 110.83 carats of blue sapphires and 48.24 carats of sparkling white diamonds, it is a gemological marvel. The centerpiece is a magnificent 45.14-carat royal blue sapphire, making it one of the most valuable pageant crowns ever created.
Does the Winner Get to Keep the Crown?
Despite its huge value, the actual crown isn’t permanently owned by the winner. It belongs to the Miss Universe Organization and is passed down each year like a prized heirloom. During her one-year reign, the winner is permitted to wear the crown for official events, appearances, and photoshoots. As a personal souvenir, she receives a smaller, far less valuable replica to commemorate her historic win.
How Has the Crown Evolved Over the Decades?
The “Force for Good” crown is just the latest in a long line of spectacular headpieces. Since the first pageant in 1952, the organization has used ten different crowns. The very first was the Romanov Imperial Nuptial Crown, believed to be made with 1,535 diamonds and used for only one year. Crown designs have changed a lot over the years. The 2002 Mikimoto crown, for example, used pearls and was worth $250,000, while the 2008 CAO Fine Jewelry crown had over 1,000 stones and included design elements inspired by Vietnamese culture.

What Makes the Modern Crowns So Special?
Recent Miss Universe crowns have highlighted large carat weights and strong symbolism. The previous Mouawad crown, “Power of Unity,” set a record with its 62.83-carat central diamond. The current “Force for Good” crown also carries deep meaning. Fred Mouawad says its wave-like base represents momentum and overcoming challenges. Its theme is about turning “pain into power,” symbolizing resilience and hope for the women who wear it.
