Two people, including a prominent businessman, were arrested after liquor cans were recovered from a vehicle near a hotel earlier this week where a huge party was held to celebrate his birthday, in Surat.
In Gujarat where alcohol is prohibited, a high-profile businessman and another individual were booked by police after liquor cans were recovered from a car parked outside KS Avtaar Hotel at Althan in Surat, where a birthday party was organized for Sameer Shah.
What happened at KS Avtaar Hotel in Althan?
As per reports, a celebration was organised at KS Avtaar Hotel in Althan on Thursday to mark the birthday of businessman Sameer Shah. During the party, Sameer’s 19-year-old son, along with a few others, reportedly consumed alcohol inside a vehicle parked near the venue.

Birthday Party at KS Avtaar Hotel Causes Police to Step In
Shah’s 19-year-old son was allegedly drinking liquor in a car with friends during the festivities. On receiving information, the police arrived at the scene and started recording the incident.
Video of Altercation With Cops Goes Viral
The youth reportedly disobeyed and shoved police, as seen in viral video. His father promptly turned up and allegedly threatened cops, saying he had “connections at the top.”
Police have recovered nine cans of liquor worth ₹1,350, seven mobile phones, cash, and the car that had an ‘L’ (learner) sticker.
Police Confirm Two FIRs Filed
NDTV first reported that Zone 4 DCP Nidhi Thakur stated that two cases had been registered one for possession of liquor and another for assaulting the police. She added that the supplier had been arrested and Sameer Shah had been taken into custody based on his statement.
She further added that Sameer’s son has failed the breathalyzer. His blood and urine samples are being tested. Decision on further steps will be taken accordingly. The reports are awaiting.
