The much-anticipated ‘We Women Want Festival & Awards 2024’ by NewsX launched today at the Taj Ambassador Hotel in New Delhi, bringing together women leaders from various industries to discuss and address the pressing issues modern women face. At the event, NewsX Editor-in-Chief Rishabh Gulati initiated a conversation on the challenges women face in achieving success in male-dominated sectors. Atishi, a prominent politician, responded by acknowledging the encouraging progress women have made, stating, “It is both encouraging and inspiring to see women making significant strides and occupying positions of power.”

Atishi emphasized the need for continued efforts to support women in leadership roles, adding that their increasing visibility highlights their capabilities and contributions. She made a compelling case for initiatives like women’s reservation in various sectors, which would provide much-needed representation and opportunities for women.

Financial Empowerment as a Catalyst for Change

Atishi stressed that financial empowerment is one of the most powerful ways to create lasting change. “We cannot do it alone,” she said, urging individuals to contribute their time, resources, and expertise to further empower women. One promising initiative aimed at financial independence is the proposed scheme offering ₹1,000 per month to women aged 18 and above who are dependents. While this scheme has not yet been passed, its potential impact on women’s empowerment is significant.

Focus on Accessible Healthcare and Safety

Highlighting healthcare advancements, Atishi discussed the success of Mohalla Clinics in Delhi. These clinics provide accessible and affordable medical services to residents from all walks of life. “Ensuring accessible healthcare is vital,” she said, emphasizing the role of such clinics in supporting the community’s health needs.

The issue of safety in healthcare facilities was also addressed by Saurabh Bhardwaj, a vocal advocate for healthcare reform. He stressed the importance of implementing stringent safety measures, including CCTV cameras in hospitals, to ensure that women feel secure when seeking medical care.

Perseverance Amid Challenges

Reflecting on her political journey, Atishi spoke about remaining steadfast during challenging times when several ministers from her party were jailed. Despite the difficulties, she continued serving the country with honesty and determination, upholding the values of her party.
