On October 6, 2024, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal and his wife, Gia Goyal, took on the role of delivery partners in Gurugram to experience the challenges delivery executives face. Goyal shared his journey in a social media post, highlighting some concerning issues in the process, particularly regarding mall policies.
During his second order pick-up from Haldiram’s at Ambience Mall, Gurugram, Goyal encountered challenges. He was asked to use a separate entrance and take the stairs, only to discover that delivery partners were not allowed to enter the mall and had to wait by the staircases. Goyal described how he “chilled” with fellow delivery partners, gathering feedback on their struggles.
Goyal stressed the need for collaboration between food delivery platforms and malls to improve the working conditions of delivery executives. He emphasized that malls need to treat delivery partners with more empathy and respect, asking, “What do you think?”
