A disturbing video has surfaced on social media capturing a traveling ticket examiner (TTE) brutally assaulting a passenger aboard the Barauni-Lucknow Express in Uttar Pradesh. The shocking incident unfolded as the TTE repeatedly slapped and verbally berated the passenger, who can be heard pleading innocence, “mera koi galti hai, sir (what is my mistake, sir).” The altercation believed to be rooted in a ticket-related dispute, led to the suspension of the TTE by the railways.
The video depicts the TTE forcefully pulling the passenger’s muffler while demanding he stand up, intensifying the distressing encounter. The person recording the incident questions the TTE, asking, “maar kyu rahe ho (Why are you beating him)” and presses for a resolution, “ticket doge tum (will you give the ticket).”
The North Eastern Railway swiftly responded to the video, confirming the immediate suspension of the TTE. The motive behind the aggressive action remains unclear, but it is apparent that a ticket dispute may have been the catalyst.
Passenger safety and well-being are paramount in railway travel, and such incidents raise concerns about the conduct of railway staff. The suspension of the TTE demonstrates a commitment to accountability and addressing misconduct within the railway system. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident to ascertain the details and take appropriate action to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
