Unlike cobras, vipers, and rattlesnakes, pythons are non-venomous. They kill by constriction, wrapping around their prey to block blood flow before consumption. A recent social media sensation involves a large python doing just that with a goat in the wild. The video, shared by Indian Forest Services (IFS) official Parveen Kaswan, depicts the python tightening its grip on the goat before swallowing it. Kaswan’s post on X asks viewers whether they would intervene or let nature run its course.

The video, posted on July 31, has garnered over 89,000 views. One commenter wrote, “That’s the natural way of things. How many goats or pythons could I save? Let destiny take its course. We shouldn’t interfere with it using our human consciousness. The most human thing I could do is to stay away.” Another added, “It’s food for the python, a requisite for its survival. If you want to save the goat, give the python food. Or let nature do its thang.”

This incident follows a July event where a man in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, narrowly escaped a 15-foot python attack while defecating in an open field. The frightening encounter, caught on camera, shows the snake coiling around the man’s neck.
