A video showing a man vandalizing a door inside a moving Kolkata Metro train went viral on Wednesday, sparking concern among commuters and authorities. The footage, captured by onboard CCTV, shows a passenger rising from his seat and spray-painting a large black ‘X’ on the closed compartment door.
No Passenger Protested as Man Painted ‘X’ on Metro Door
In the viral clip, none of the passengers appeared to object as the man defaced the door during the train’s run on the Blue Line. The incident reportedly took place in Coach No. 4036 of rake MR-409.
Metro Railway Kolkata released an official statement saying, “It has been observed that Door No.5 of Coach No. 4036 of a Metro rake (MR-409) operated on Blue Line has been defaced recently with black spray paint by a commuter. Such an act has caused damage to the aesthetic look of the coach.”

The metro authorities assured that the offender will be identified using surveillance systems in place across trains and stations. “With the help of CCTV cameras installed in the rakes and stations, such activities can be recorded easily and offenders can be identified. Legal action will be initiated against any person found to be engaged in such activities,” the statement said.
