Watch: Hurricane Beryl Hits Barbados, Team India Stranded After World Cup Victory

Hurricane Beryl, the first named hurricane of the season, has struck Barbados, leading to the shutdown of the airport and the imposition of a curfew starting at 6 PM. All flights have been canceled, leaving Team India and Indian media stranded after their World Cup win. Stores and offices are closed as the island braces for the storm.

Team India’s unexpected delay adds to the tension, as fans worry about their safety amidst the storm. With no flights available, they remain in Barbados until further notice. As the hurricane approaches, the region is taking extensive precautions to minimize damage and ensure the safety of its residents and visitors.

The hurricane, which evolved from a tropical storm on Friday night, is expected to grow stronger as it approaches Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Martinique, and other nearby islands. In preparation, residents are boarding up homes, queuing for fuel, and stockpiling essential supplies and water.

Caribbean nations are on high alert as Hurricane Beryl intensifies, with authorities urging residents to take emergency measures. Forecasted to make landfall late Sunday, Beryl has been classified as a “very dangerous” category three storm, with winds expected to reach between 111 and 130 mph (179-209 km/h).
