Watch: Eco-Friendly Ganesh Idol Made Of Tree Bark Installed In Surat’s Lal Darwaza Area

As global warming intensifies and deforestation continues, noticeable climate changes are occurring. In response, various tree-planting and conservation campaigns are being undertaken across India.

One such remarkable initiative can be found in the Lal Darwaza area of Surat, where the Ekdant Yuva Mandal has crafted an eco-friendly Ganesh idol from waste tree bark. This impressive idol stands at 11 feet tall and weighs 200 kilograms. The structure is supported by grass on the inside and has been created using 300 kilograms of clay and 70 to 80 pieces of tree bark. The use of eco-friendly watercolors further emphasizes the group’s commitment to the environment.

In addition to the idol, the group has also constructed a garden using naturally fallen tree branches. Over the past four years, the Ekdant Yuva Mandal has been setting up the Ganesh idol, with each year showcasing a unique theme. This year, the focus has been on creating a completely eco-friendly Ganesh idol, with even the incense sticks used in worship being eco-friendly.

Under the tree-saving campaign led by the Ekdant Yuva Mandal, this Ganesh idol made from tree bark has become a major attraction throughout Surat. The group’s innovative approach and dedication to environmental conservation have garnered significant attention and praise in the community.

On the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde urged eco-friendly celebrations, extended greetings, and emphasized preserving Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage during the festival.
