Vivek Ramaswamy, a biotech entrepreneur and former Republican presidential candidate, is once again in the spotlight. A video of his high school graduation speech has recently gone viral on social media following President-elect Donald Trump’s announcement that Ramaswamy would co-lead the newly-formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside Elon Musk. Ramaswamy has shared his reaction to the resurfacing of this old video on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The viral video shows a young 18-year-old Vivek Ramaswamy addressing his classmates, teachers, and other guests at his 2003 graduation ceremony at St. Xavier High School in Ohio. In the video, he questions, “How am I supposed to feel right now?” as he reflects on his time at the school and his emotions at that pivotal moment.
After the video resurfaced, Ramaswamy took to X to share his reaction. He humorously commented, “I was against bureaucracy back then too,” adding a laughing-out-loud emoticon. His playful response to the old footage has been well-received by his followers.
In a statement posted on Truth Social, President-elect Donald Trump announced that Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk would lead the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Trump praised both men, referring to Musk as “the Great Elon Musk” and Ramaswamy as an “American Patriot,” highlighting their shared goal of addressing inefficiencies in government.
Trump further elaborated that their mission would be to dismantle government bureaucracy, reduce excessive regulations, eliminate wasteful spending, and restructure federal agencies. Trump expressed optimism about the impact of DOGE, stating, “These two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies—Essential to the ‘Save America’ Movement.”
The President-elect also suggested that DOGE could become “The Manhattan Project” of the modern era, with the goal of improving the lives of all Americans.
