Viral Video: Temple Flower Seller Forced To Buy iPhone For Son, Internet Reacts

A video circulating on social media has sparked widespread discussion after it revealed a mother’s struggle to fulfill her son’s demand for an iPhone. The boy, who reportedly went on a hunger strike for three days, forced his mother, who earns her living by selling flowers outside a temple, to buy the expensive phone. The video, shared by journalist Abhishek on X, shows the boy holding a wad of cash, while his mother explains the situation.

In the clip, the distressed mother says, “I sell flowers outside a temple, and I gave him the money to buy the phone because he did not eat anything for three days.” Despite her compliance, she expressed a wish that her son would earn back the money spent on the phone, saying, “I am happy but I want him to earn and bring back the money.”

The video has garnered over 7,88,000 views, with social media users reacting strongly. Many criticized the boy’s behavior, highlighting how social media and the obsession with luxury items like iPhones are negatively impacting younger generations and their families.

One user commented, “Breaks my heart to see his mother’s expression. This generation is doomed.” Another expressed anger over the situation, saying, “That’s emotional and financial torture to the mother. He should have some shame. What’s the fuss with those iPhones? If he really needed a phone, he could’ve got a better or similar Android for a lot cheaper.”

A third user voiced frustration over the boy’s lack of responsibility, stating, “Spending this much money on a phone (iPhone) when you don’t work, while your mother toiled hard by selling flowers, doesn’t make any sense. His mother gave up because he went on a hunger strike. I don’t know what to say. This video broke my heart.”

The video has prompted a broader conversation about the pressures and challenges faced by parents trying to meet their children’s demands, particularly in a society where material possessions are increasingly valued.
