A Florida woman was eager to embark on a world tour by sea, so much so that she quit her job and sold her house to fund a ticket on a luxury cruise called “Life at Sea,” which promised to visit 135 countries over three years. The ticket cost Rs 4 crore, and she had booked a seventh-floor balcony cabin.
Without children or grandchildren, Meredith Shay felt free to travel for three years and quickly arranged her plans, selling her house, packing four suitcases, and renting a storage unit. However, just before the ship was set to depart from Miami, she learned that the departure had been changed to the Bahamas. Soon after, the cruise was canceled entirely due to issues related to a Middle East incident on October 7.
Vedat Ugrulu, owner of “Myre Cruise,” the company behind the cruise, explained that they were unable to set sail and would refund the passengers in three installments. Despite the setback, Meredith chose to remain positive, saying that she is free and has no obligations. She has now decided to take another cruise and visit Saudi Arabia and Dubai.
