Unusual Rental Demands: Woman Denied Rental Due to Serious Relationship

In a peculiar incident during her house-hunting journey, a woman named Shivangi Shah faced rejection from a prospective flatmate due to her serious relationship with her boyfriend. The unusual exchange was shared on social media, sparking a wave of reactions from users who found the situation both amusing and perplexing.

Shah took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a screenshot of her conversation with a woman from the Facebook group ‘Flat and Flatmates (Gurgaon).’ The conversation began with the renter inquiring about Shah’s “date,” which Shah initially interpreted as a question about her moving date. She responded that she could shift either in the last week of December or the first week of January.

However, the renter clarified that she was asking about Shah’s relationship status. When Shah confirmed that she had a boyfriend who also lived in Gurugram, the renter further probed whether the relationship was “serious.” Upon learning that it was, the renter expressed her preference for casual relationships and stated that she wanted a flatmate who shared the same outlook.

Shah captioned her post, “House hunting in Gurgaon is wild,” which has since garnered over 79,000 views and more than 750 likes. The unusual nature of the exchange left many social media users scratching their heads. One user commented, “I don’t understand—does she want to hook up with you or your boyfriend?” Another remarked, “Making hookups your entire personality is wild,” while a third user questioned the authenticity of the situation, asking, “WTF have I just seen? Is this true?”

In a related story, a 20-year-old woman named Naina recently shared her own rental experience, revealing that she was rejected by flatmates in Bengaluru due to her age. In a video posted on X, Naina expressed her disappointment over being turned down for a “really pretty house” in the Domlur area. Despite her efforts to convince the flatmates, they told her, “We are not comfortable with you living here because you are only 20.” Undeterred, Naina created a PowerPoint presentation highlighting her positive qualities in an attempt to prove herself as a worthy flatmate.
