Airport baggage fees, especially for excess or overweight luggage, can be expensive and put a strain on travelers’ wallets. To avoid paying hefty charges, many people try creative hacks. However, one 20-year-old woman took it to another level by pretending to be pregnant to bypass Ryanair’s baggage fees.

Grace Hale, a Dallas resident, successfully pulled off the stunt while flying from England to Scotland. She tucked her belongings under her clothing to create a fake pregnancy bump, fooling the airline staff.

In an interview with What’s The Jam, Hale shared how she came up with the idea and executed it. “It was very funny. I looked up what pregnancy bumps looked like at different months and how far along I would be,” she explained. After researching, she settled on a 26-week pregnancy, knowing airlines require a doctor’s certificate for women beyond 28 weeks.

Hale criticized Ryanair’s baggage fees, saying, “It’s ridiculously expensive if you want to take a bag on a Ryanair flight. I like to take ten options for a three-day trip.”

Running late for her flight, she realized her makeup bag and jackets wouldn’t fit in her luggage. Thinking quickly, she stuffed them under her top, wrapping the jackets around the makeup bag to prevent anything from falling out. To make her act more convincing, she even practiced walking like a pregnant woman before arriving at the airport.

To her surprise, the trick worked, and she successfully boarded the flight to Edinburgh without paying extra baggage fees. Later, she shared her amusing experience on social media, joking that she was expecting a baby boy named “Ryan” in reference to Ryanair.

According to The New York Post, Ryanair charges between $50 (₹4,200) and $80 (₹6,800) for extra luggage or personal items. Hale’s unconventional hack has sparked debate online, with some travelers praising her creativity while others question the ethics of such tricks.
