This Man Provides Meals For Just Rs 5 Outside Noida Hospital Daily!

Vidit Sharma, a 33-year-old from Noida, launched Jan Rasoye, an initiative designed to support daily wage workers and their families by providing affordable, home-cooked meals. Inspired by the sight of these workers waiting outside Noida’s government hospital every morning, Vidit noticed their exhaustion and the burden of rising medical costs. Despite their struggles, these individuals were committed to ensuring their loved ones received the best care, often at the expense of their own basic needs, including food.

Moved by their plight, Vidit started Jan Rasoye in 2024 to offer nutritious, home-cooked meals for just Rs 5. The menu features dishes like rajma chawal, chole chawal, and dal chawal. Vidit explained to The Better India why he opted for a nominal fee instead of offering the meals for free: “People should not feel that they are having it for free. They feel happy giving some amount of money.” This small charge helps maintain the dignity of the recipients, allowing them to feel valued and self-sufficient.

Rasoye Provides 700 Meals Daily

Currently, Jan Rasoye provides around 700 meals daily, with Vidit aiming to expand this to 3,000 plates per day and extend services to additional hospitals in Noida. His mission is to offer hygienic, home-cooked meals to laborers who often miss out on essential nutrition due to their hard work.

Vidit remarked, “Seeing the gratitude in their eyes fills our hearts with immense joy. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of many. These meals are full of love and much-needed nutrition, providing hope and sustenance to those who need it most.” Beyond his work with Jan Rasoye, Vidit also runs the Save a Stray Foundation, where he feeds and cares for over 3,000 animals each day. Balancing this with his job at an automobile company, Vidit’s commitment to both people and animals is genuinely inspiring.
