The Vision Of India We Strive For: Internet Applauds Muslim Family For Dressing Son As Lord Krishna On Janmashtami

Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with great enthusiasm across India on Monday, August 26, featuring various Dahi Handi events and other traditional rituals. One of the most cherished traditions for Hindu devotees on this auspicious day is dressing their children as Lord Krishna and Radha. It’s common to see baby boys dressed as Krishna and little girls as Radha.

While all the children look adorable dressed as deities, a particular video of a young boy dressed as Krishna has captured widespread attention online. The now-viral clip features a Muslim boy dressed as Lord Krishna in honor of the Hindu festival, a gesture that has deeply touched many on social media.

This touching moment comes from Ludhiana, Punjab, where a Muslim family embraced the Indian tradition by dressing their child as Lord Krishna for Janmashtami. The video shows the family leaving their home on a two-wheeler, with their son dressed as Krishna.

“A Muslim family dresses up their kid as Krishna for Janmashtami,” reads the caption.

Since its posting, the video has garnered over 6.5 million likes, with social media users flooding the comments with love and well-wishes. One commenter wrote, “Heart Touching,” while another added, “I saw the cutest Radha yesterday… and she was Muslim.”

“This is the kind of India we dream and aspire for,” said one viewer. Another pointed out, “This is how united we are in our culture.” A different viewer noted, “This is the best video on the internet today.”

This isn’t the first time such an event has occurred, with similar gestures of unity being praised in the past. A comparable video went viral during Janmashtami celebrations a couple of years ago.

In that clip, a young boy named Faiz was seen posing for photos in traditional attire at the request of a stranger. He wore a yellow embroidered kurta with yellow dhoti pants and gold accessories to celebrate Krishna Janmashtami 2022. Accompanied by his mother on the way to school, the video was shared by an X (formerly Twitter) user who captioned it, “Our country (heart emoji).”

Many in the comments section responded with blessings and love for the boy, expressing respect and affection for the family’s gesture.
