Tropical Storm Shanshan, which made landfall on Japan’s southern main island of Kyushu on Thursday morning, has since been downgraded from a typhoon to a tropical storm. Despite the downgrade, it continues to disrupt flights and trains in Japan. The storm, one of the most severe to hit Japan in decades, has resulted in six fatalities and over 120 injuries. The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued warnings for landslides, flooding, and overflowing rivers.
