The result of the recently concluded 2025 Bihar Assembly elections confirmed a decisive victory for the ruling National Democratic Alliance, but it also brought to light the main casualty of a high-profile political heavyweight: Tej Pratap Yadav. The elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was defeated in the Mahua constituency, a loss that quickly grabbed media attention.
Coinciding with the electoral setback, a decade-old video clip has suddenly gone viral, reminding the public of one of the politician’s most famous moments of awkwardness.
The Viral Swearing-in Moment of 2015
The footage is from November 19, 2015, when Tej Pratap Yadav was sworn in as a minister in the state government headed by then-Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

The oath of office was being administered by the then-Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind, who would later go on to become the President of India.
During the oath-taking ceremony, a minor yet significant mistake occurred. While reciting the Hindi oath, Tej Pratap mispronounced an important word.
He used the word “Upekshit,” which, in Hindi, means neglected, though the official script required the use of the word “Apekshit,” meaning expected or required.
Governor Kovind immediately intervened. Insisting on the sanctity of the constitutional process, the governor asked him to read the oath as it was set out.
Tej Pratap was firmly asked by him to repeat the entire oath correctly, word by word, without omitting a single word or adding any word to the exact words prescribed.
This incident, highlighting the strict decorum of the oath-taking ceremony, has gone viral on social media in the wake of the recent electoral defeat of the leader.
