‘Swipe Right For GST’: Fake Nirmala Sitharaman Bumble Profile Goes Viral

In a surprising turn of events, a parody Bumble profile featuring India’s Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, has surfaced on social media, sparking a blend of humour and debate among netizens. The fake profile, which humorously exaggerates Sitharaman’s role as Finance Minister, has gone viral, with many amused by its witty descriptions, while others express discomfort and concern.

The satirical profile lists Sitharaman as a 24-year-old with the amusing title “Chief Tax Slayer at Ministry.” Accompanied by a photo of Sitharaman, the bio humorously reads, “I don’t believe in love at first sight, but I do believe in GST on everything you own. I’ve raised more taxes than your ex raised red flags. Swipe right if you’re into women who can deduct happiness, itemize suffering, and maximize your stress.” The profile continues with its humorous take, stating, “I’m not your girlfriend; I’m your liability.”

One user commented, “Isn’t this a crime?” while another expressed outrage, calling the act “disrespectful and sexist.” The backlash further extended to claims that the parody constituted cybercrime, with comments calling for the creator to be arrested. A concerned user stated, “This is a cybercrime, and whoever created such a profile can be arrested.”

Despite the mixed reactions, the profile has raised questions about the boundaries of satire when involving public figures, especially those holding significant political positions.
