India erupted in joy after defeating Pakistan in the Champions Trophy match on Sunday. Fans flooded social media, praising Team India, especially Virat Kohli, for his match-winning century. Meanwhile, another name started trending—Abhay Singh, the aerospace engineer-turned-sadhu known as ‘IITian Baba.’
Internet Roasts IITian Baba
Earlier, Abhay Singh confidently predicted that India had no chance of winning. In a podcast, he declared, “Iss bar India nahi jeetegi. Virat Kohli aur sabko bol do ki jeet ke dikha dein. Maine bola nahi jeetegi India toh nahi jeetegi.” (India will not win this time. Tell Virat Kohli and his team to try, but they won’t. If I say India won’t win, they won’t.)
However, after India’s victory, social media erupted with memes mocking him. Many users labeled him a fraud and urged content creators to stop inviting him to podcasts.
Moreover, Prafull Billore, founder of MBA Chai Wala Group, joined the fun. He jokingly resigned from his title as India’s “panauti” (bad luck) and suggested IITian Baba should take over.
I have resigned recently from my job.

As a result, many demanded that IITian Baba stop making predictions and stay out of the spotlight.

IITian Baba Apologizes
After facing heavy backlash, Abhay Singh took to X and posted an apology. He also shared photos of Virat Kohli and Team India celebrating their victory.
“I want to publicly apologise and ask each one of you all to celebrate, it’s party time. Mujhe mann hi mann pata tha ki India jeetega.” (I knew in my heart that India would win.)
