What was meant to be a formal meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India’s World Cup–winning women’s cricket team soon turned into a fun-filled moment. Batter Harleen Deol surprised everyone with a light-hearted question that had the entire room laughing — including the Prime Minister himself.
The Indian women’s team met PM Modi after their historic ODI World Cup victory. The interaction, filled with appreciation and laughter, reflected the close bond between the players and the leader.
PM Modi Praises Harleen’s Cheerful Spirit
During the conversation, Prime Minister Modi praised Harleen Deol for her lively nature and positive energy. He said she had the ability to keep the team’s atmosphere cheerful, even in tense situations.
Harleen smiled at the compliment but decided to turn to the interviewer for a moment. As everyone expected her to ask a cricket-related question, she surprised the Prime Minister with a completely different one.
“Sir, your skin is always glowing. Can you please tell me what your skincare routine is?” Harleen asked with a smile.

Her spontaneous question sent everyone — including PM Modi — into fits of laughter.
PM Modi’s Humorous Reply
The Prime Minister, still amused, responded with a chuckle, “I do not think about all that.”
The team couldn’t stop laughing at the exchange. One of the players quickly added, “Sir, it’s the love of the millions of this country!” — a remark that drew even louder laughter from the room.
Head coach Amol Muzumdar also joined the fun and said jokingly, “As you can see, sir, these are the personalities I have to deal with. Which has now made my hair go white.”
The Team’s Special Memory from the England Tour
Amid the laughter, Muzumdar shared another funny story from the team’s earlier tour of England. He said that the players once got a chance to take a group photo with King Charles. But the rule allowed only 20 people in one frame, which meant the entire team couldn’t be together.
According to Muzumdar, the support staff decided to skip that moment. They told each other they would save that special photograph for when they won the ODI World Cup and met Prime Minister Modi instead. The story drew applause and smiles all around.
A Meeting Full of Pride and Purpose
India’s vice-captain Smriti Mandhana said the team entered the tournament with a larger goal — to bring a new wave of change in women’s sports. “We wanted to inspire the next generation,” she said, explaining that their victory was about much more than just winning a trophy.
Prime Minister Modi appreciated the players’ determination and said their success had inspired the entire nation.
The Indian women’s cricket team’s World Cup victory was a landmark achievement. Under Harmanpreet Kaur’s leadership, the team overcame setbacks and finally defeated South Africa in the final — lifting India’s first-ever Women’s ODI World Cup trophy.
The meeting with PM Modi celebrated not only their victory but also the spirit, humour, and heart that define this remarkable team.
