Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi to Raise Ranveer Allahbadia Controversy in Parliament?

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has firmly lambasted the influence of YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia regarding his scandalous comments on a roast show, saying she will “raise the issue in parliament.” She further stated that she is unhappy over gushing foul conversation under the handle of comedy and asked for a decrease in the standards of content.

Chaturvedi said, “Any abusive language in the name of comedy content crosses limits is not acceptable to the country. What level are we stooping to? You get a platform, that doesn’t mean that you will utter anything. He is somebody with millions of subscribers, every political has sat in his podcast. PM has given him an award. As a member of standing committee of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, I will raise this issue.”

The controversy stemmed from Allahbadia’s appearance on India’s Got Latent, a show hosted by Samay Raina, where he made inappropriate remarks. His remarks sent the audience into a shock as he asked one of the participants the size of their private parts and even gave away Rs 2 crore for an act of a sexual nature. He further presented a haunting question, lifted straight from the previous episode on YouTube: “Watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life. Or would you join in once and stop it forever?”

The NHRC responded to it by asking YouTube to remove videos featuring Allahbadia’s offensive jokes. The commission acted following a complaint from Yogendra Singh Thakur, who denounced the show for making “highly objectionable, inappropriate, and obscene remarks about Indian society.”

As India Today reports, the NHRC letter expresses a concern over an incident in which several YouTubers issued lewd and obscene remarks especially targeting women and children. It pointed out that such content readily available on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook threatens the safety, dignity, and mental well-being of vulnerable groups. It warned that the widespread availability of such material could normalize degrading language and behavior among impressionable audiences, exacerbating its negative impact.
