Rs 1.51 Crore In Cash, Gold And Silver! Nagaur’s Wedding Dowry Breaks Records | WATCH

In Rajasthan’s Nagaur district, a remarkable instance of the customary ‘Mayra’ tradition unfolded, where the maternal uncles of a bride presented a dowry of Rs 3 crore—surpassing the total wedding expenses. This unique cultural practice, deeply rooted in Rajasthani heritage, shifts the dowry responsibility from the bride’s parents to her maternal uncles.

Grand Ceremony at Hanuman Bagh

Rambaksh Khoja, a farmer from Hanuman Bagh, Nagaur, upheld this tradition at the weddings of his nephew and niece. With three sons and one daughter, Khoja’s family is well-established, with two of his sons serving as government teachers and the third employed in the private sector. His daughter is married to Madanlal, a teacher from Phardod village, Rajasthan.

Following a royal-era tradition from Khinyala of Jayal, Khoja, along with 2,000 family members and relatives, arrived at his sister Birajaya’s home for the grand ‘Mayra’ ceremony. As part of the ritual, the three brothers draped their sister in a dupatta before presenting lavish gifts, including Rs 1.51 crore in cash, 30 tolas of gold, five kilograms of silver, and two plots in Nagaur city.

This event not only highlights the cultural richness of Rajasthan but also underscores the strong bond between maternal families and their married daughters, keeping alive a centuries-old legacy.
