A recent Social media viral video captured a shocking yet shameful scene near one of Delhi’s most rushed and  famous sites, the Red Fort Metro Station.

The clip shows a man openly urinating in public against a boundary wall, right as pedestrians walk by. This common yet offensive act quickly turned into a public display of shame.

How Cleanliness Drive Volunteers Approached the Guy

Just as the man finished, some young volunteers, including a foreign national who was also taking part in the local cleanliness drive, approached him. They did not confront him directly but started clapping and whistling sarcastically to embarrass him for his behavior.

This caught the man by surprise, and he looked visibly ashamed as he hurried away from the scene with onlookers recording the whole thing.

A video of this went viral on social media, with an overlay question asking, “Is this how we should approach this kind of behavior?”

How Social Media Reacted to Red Fort Viral Video

The viral clip immediately sparked a huge online debate. Many expressed anger and disappointment over the persistent problem of public urination in Indian cities.

Many supported the volunteers’ actions and agreed that it’s “time to name and shame” those who spoil public spaces. One user condemned the man’s “attitude” even after being caught. Another user pointed out the widespread problem: “In India, men treat every wall like it’s a personal restroom.”

Infrastructure vs. Mindset: Where Does the Blame Lie?

The core question debated by social media users was: Is this a lack of infrastructure or a lack of civic sense? Some netizens directly blamed it on the government and poor city planning, saying that public restrooms are few and usually “disgusting.”

The same user added that those available rarely get cleaned, and so people are actually hesitant to use such facilities at all. They argued that India must “step up in sanitation” for the sake of its international reputation.

On the other side, many argued that poor facilities are just an excuse for a deeply ingrained lack of respect and responsibility. One user remarked clearly, “The problem isn’t just lack of facilities; it’s the mindset.

So shameful!” This incident at the Red Fort reflects the serious conflict that exists between the requirement for better civic standards and the urgent demand felt across the nation for clean, accessible public toilets.

It shows that solving this nagging public health and hygiene problem is going to require consistent community standards as well as improved government infrastructure.
