Two local men were arrested for allegedly slaughtering a python and cooking its meat, the Forest Officials confirmed on Thursday.
The two accused, Pramod and Bineesh, had allegedly hunted an adult python on Wednesday night from a rubber plantation close to their houses. They had then slaughtered the reptile and prepared a curry at Pramod’s house.
Acting on a tip, Thaliparamba Range Officer Suresh P and his team raided the house. They took into custody parts of the python along with the cooked food. Forest officials have filed a case under the Wildlife Protection Act against the two.
Pramod and Bineesh were produced before court on Thursday and have been remanded in judicial custody, officials said.
