Prisoner Leaps from Auto-Rickshaw, Recaptured After Dramatic Field Chase | Watch

A viral video from Bihar’s Munger district shows two police constables apprehending a prisoner in a flooded field after he attempted to escape. The incident took place on Saturday while the prisoner was being escorted by police from Dharhara police station.

The prisoner, identified as Suraj Kumar, also known as Kariva, had been arrested by Dharhara police late Friday night in connection with a previous case. On Saturday afternoon, he was being transported to Munger court in an auto-rickshaw, accompanied by another prisoner, and was under the supervision of four constables and a police officer.

While the auto-rickshaw stopped at a petrol pump for refueling, Suraj saw an opportunity to escape. He freed his hands from the handcuffs, jumped out of the vehicle, and made a run for it. Suraj fled into a nearby field but was slowed down as the field was flooded.

The police constables immediately sprang into action, chasing him into the flooded field. Despite his attempt to evade capture, the constables successfully caught up with and apprehended him. A bystander recorded the entire incident on a mobile phone, and the footage has since gone viral on social media.

The SHO of Dharhara police station commended the constables’ quick response, stating that their prompt actions led to the prisoner’s swift recapture, despite his brief escape attempt.
