The Bihar unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a special campaign to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on September 17. As part of the initiative, 243 vans-one for each assembly segment-will travel across the state with large screens to screen the short film Chalo Jeete Hain, which is based on the Prime Minister’s childhood.

ww The BJP’s official X handle tweeted the flag-off from Patna’s Gandhi Maidan and referred to the vehicles as ‘Seva Raths’. “In the days to come, these raths will reach every village, every lane, and every mohalla in Bihar, and make the people aware that the real intention of politics is not power, but service to society and change to the last person,” the post said.

The party further added, “All 243 assembly constituencies of Bihar will also screen the movie ‘Chalo Jeete Hain’ depicting the inspirational childhood and strife of the respectable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. This movie will impart to every citizen the fact that one who adopts the path of service, struggle, and determination despite adversity is the real servant of society.”

BJP officials claim that the campaign, titled the ‘Fortnight of Service’, is intended to ‘give new thinking and new energy to society’. In the short film, young Narendra, or ‘Naru’, is shown to grow up in post-independence Vadnagar, Gujarat, motivated by Swami Vivekananda’s saying, “Only those who live for others, actually live.”

JD(U)-BJP alliance, spearheaded by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, is also banking on this move to strengthen its fortunes in the Bihar assembly polls due to be held in October-November.

Prime Minister Modi has recently campaigned in Bihar, where he launched a stinging attack on Opposition RJD and Congress for giving “support to infiltration”, highlighting the political climate of high stakes as the elections approach.
