A 60-year-old woman, Pravesh Kumari, tragically lost her life at Mainpuri District Hospital after reportedly being left untreated for nearly 15 minutes in the emergency ward. Her family has accused Dr. Adarsh Sengar, the on-duty physician, of neglecting her urgent medical needs while he was allegedly distracted by watching videos on his mobile phone.
Delayed Medical Attention and Alleged Doctor Negligence
Pravesh Kumari was brought to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon after suffering a heart attack. Her family claims that instead of immediately attending to her, Dr. Sengar delegated the task to a nurse, failing to personally examine the patient. Despite repeated pleas from Kumari’s relatives for the doctor’s intervention, he reportedly continued to watch videos on his phone, ignoring their cries for help.
As Kumari’s condition worsened, her son, Guru Sharan Singh, reportedly protested, but was met with aggression. The situation escalated when the doctor allegedly slapped Singh during an argument, leading to chaos in the hospital. Police were called to manage the disturbance.

Viral Video Sparks Outrage
A video capturing the alleged incident has since gone viral, drawing widespread outrage. CCTV footage appears to show Dr. Sengar sitting at his desk, engrossed in his phone while nurses attended to Kumari. The footage reportedly also shows the doctor slapping the patient’s son during the altercation, further fueling public anger.
Son Recounts Heartbreaking Experience
Guru Sharan Singh, Kumari’s son, described the horrifying sequence of events leading to his mother’s death. In a statement, Singh said that he and his brothers rushed their mother to the hospital, but instead of receiving immediate attention from the doctor, a nurse was assigned to provide care. As Kumari’s condition deteriorated, the family pleaded with Dr. Sengar to attend to her, but he continued to ignore their requests. Singh recounted the panic that ensued when his mother coughed up blood, and despite their frantic efforts, she passed away on the hospital stretcher.
In the wake of his mother’s death, Singh confronted the doctor, and during the altercation, he was reportedly slapped by Dr. Sengar.
Hospital Investigation Underway
The incident has sparked outrage both locally and on social media. Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Madan Lal confirmed the incident, stating that a formal investigation has been initiated. “We are taking this matter seriously, and strict action will be taken against those found responsible,” Dr. Lal said. Senior officials have also been informed, and the hospital is committed to ensuring accountability in the case.
The family’s grief has been compounded by the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding Kumari’s untimely death, with many now calling for justice and reforms in hospital protocols to ensure that such negligence never happens again
