CNBC reports that Ola plans to launch its 10-minute food delivery service under the name ‘Ola Dash’ beginning with Bengaluru. It would thus enable Ola to compete with quick-service food delivery options like Zepto Cafe, Swiggy Bolt, and Blinkit’s Bistro that also guarantee deliveries within 10 minutes from chosen restaurants.
Launched in June this year via ONDC, Ola Dash is the food delivery offering of the company that so far is only accessible via a section of the Ola app in selected parts of Bengaluru. Still, the service will only include orders from specific restaurants within 1km. No formal communication on the 10-minute delivery service has been issued till now.
This comes after Ola had recently expanded its services in Bengaluru. Last month, Ola rolled out ‘Ola Parcel,’ which delivers parcels via electric scooters within the city. Delivery charges are pegged at Rs. 25 for 5km, Rs. 50 for 10km, Rs. 75 for 15km, and Rs. 100 for 20km.
In addition, Ola launched electric bike taxis in Bengaluru. It launched S1 electric scooters at Rs. 25 for 5 kilometers and Rs. 50 for 10 kilometers. Another trend is that of the quick-food delivery. Companies tie up with restaurants in the neighborhood or offer food from their own cafes such as samosas, sandwiches, coffee, etc.
