Navratri 2024: X Flooded From Traditional Garba to Flaming Indhoni Raas

Navratri, the vibrant nine-day Hindu festival, is being celebrated across India with enthusiasm and devotion.

Garba, a folk dance originating from Gujarat, involves dancing in a circular motion around a lamp or a statue of the Goddess. It is marked by graceful movements, clapping, and singing. In contrast, Dandiya is performed using two sticks (dandiyas) and features intricate footwork and coordinated hand movements.

In Gujarat, where Navratri is celebrated with immense passion, women in Jamnagar were seen performing the traditional Indhoni Raas Garba while carrying a flame on their heads using an ‘indhoni’—a pot holder traditionally used in Indian culture to balance a ‘kalash.’ The mesmerizing sight of women dancing with the flaming indhoni added to the festive charm.

Additionally, foreign nationals were spotted observing the Garba performances by local youth in Jamnagar, adding to the electrifying atmosphere where people from diverse backgrounds came together to celebrate the festival.
