Myntra Major Blunder: Footwear With Fake Brand Sticker Sold

A recent video by Harshita Bhardwaj Tiwari on Instagram has created afurore as she exposed the shocking incident of her experience with Myntra, one of India’s top e-commerce platforms. She had ordered a pair of footwear from the popular brand Mast & Harbour, but to her utter surprise, received a completely different brand – DressBerry – with a sticker attempting to mask the original brand logo.

The video has gone viral since then, having reached over 6.3 million views and received severe criticism from social media users.

The Viral Video and the Shocking Mix-Up

Tiwari’s video shows the product being unboxed, with the outer box clearly labeled “Mast & Harbour.” However, inside, she found shoes from a different brand altogether, DressBerry. The most alarming part of the incident was the fake Mast & Harbour sticker placed over the DressBerry logo. “The worst part? They’re even trying to hide the original brand,” Tiwari wrote, expressing her frustration with the deception.

Tiwari, who has since shared the video on Instagram, raised her concerns over what she described as a clear attempt by Myntra to pass off a different brand as the one she had ordered.

Myntra Responds to the Allegation

The video’s widespread attention caught Myntra’s eye, and the company promptly responded. Myntra expressed regret over the incident, claiming that such mix-ups were not representative of their service and assured the customer of a swift resolution. Myntra requested Tiwari to provide product details via their direct messaging system to facilitate further action.

“We are reviewing the details and will take necessary steps to address your concern,” Myntra wrote in an update on the incident. Despite the company’s assurance, customers on social media have raised concerns over Myntra’s handling of such cases.

Public Reaction: Mixed Reviews and Complaints

The mix-up has ignited a flurry of comments from Myntra shoppers who claim to have faced similar issues. One user shared that after an order mix-up, Myntra insisted that CCTV footage confirmed the right product was sent, without providing any actual proof. Other customers recounted receiving fake or poor-quality items and warned against shopping on the platform.

However, some users defended Myntra, pointing out that both Mast & Harbour and DressBerry are Myntra’s private labels, which suggests that this might not be a case of scam but rather an internal mix-up. “This is technically not a scam,” one user commented.

Another user, with a different perspective, added that DressBerry might even be of better quality than Mast & Harbour, suggesting that the issue wasn’t the product itself but the miscommunication in branding.

A Wake-Up Call for Online Shopping?

While Myntra’s response to the incident appears to be an attempt at damage control, the viral video has once again highlighted the challenges and frustrations that online shoppers face. With customers continuing to voice their concerns, it remains to be seen how the e-commerce giant will address these issues and regain trust in its services.

In the meantime, Tiwari’s experience has sparked a larger conversation about the transparency and quality of online shopping platforms, making it essential for companies to ensure customer satisfaction and authenticity in every transaction.
