Stand-up comedian Samay Raina has been mired in a controversy raised due to illicit remarks made during his show ‘India’s Got Latent’. Amid severe backlash, fellow comedian and actor Munawar Faruqui has shown his solidarity for Raina via a recent Instagram reel, though he did not name Raina.
In the reel, Faruqui discusses the rising and setting sun and says that the sun is always liked by people when it’s lower in the sky; He said, “Doobta hua suraj achha lagta hai ya shuru hone wala suraj achha lagta hai. But suraj jab ek dum top pe pohoch jaata hai na ek dum shiddat pe, tab sabko jalan hone lagti hai. (People like the setting sun or the rising sun. But when the sun reaches at the top, at its zenith, that’s when everyone gets jealous).”

In an earlier Instagram post, Munawar had also shared his support for Samay, writing, “Samay (with a kissing emoji) Art joh hai woh spring ki hai. Jitnaa dabage utnaa uper uthega. My G is going to come out so strong you will see.”
The row broke out after YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, or BeerBiceps, made an unpleasant comment on Instagram about ‘parental sex’ while hosting an episode of India’s Got Latent. This prompted police complaints to be lodged against Raina, Allahbadia, and the other co-judges. Ranveer apologized later but Raina removed the offending episode from YouTube.
