A Mumbai court on Saturday ordered the Mumbai police to investigate a criminal complaint against film and television producer Ekta Kapoor for allegedly showing disrespect towards Indian soldiers in her web series. The police complaint was filed by Social media influencer Vikas Pathak, popularly known as ‘Hindustani Bhau’.
The Bandra magistrate’s court directed the police to submit a report by 9 May about Section 202 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of India, which allows a magistrate to conduct an inquiry or instruct police to do so.
Allegations Against Ekta Kapoor
Ekta Kapoor, her OTT platform Alt Balaji, and her parents, Shobha and Jeetendra Kapoor, are all named as accused in the complaint filed through advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh.
Pathak’s complaint states that a web series aired on Alt Balaji depicted a military officer engaged in ‘illicit sexual activity’ in one of its episodes, which he claims he discovered in May 2020.
The web series scene involved an Indian Army officer in uniform exhibiting lewd behaviour with the Indian national emblem in view.
The essence of the grievances says that such content denigrated the worthiness of the Indian Army, tarnished the national spirit, and scathingly pointed an accusing finger at the accused by allegedly promoting content that derides the armed forces and the symbols associated with them.

Vikas Pathak, popularly known as ‘Hindustani Bhau,’ is a Mumbai-based social media influencer and ex-crime reporter for a Thane-based newspaper. Bhau shot to fame for his intimate yet outspoken videos, often sprinkled with a variety of colorful slang.
Ekta Kapoor has yet to make a public statement regarding the complaint and the latest developments in the police case matter. The OTT platform operates under the name Alt Balaji, whose probe over bold and controversial content has been going on for quite a while.
