Mrunal Thakur Urges Media To Stop Reposting Old Comments About Virat Kohli

Recently, an old comment made by actress Mrunal Thakur about being “madly in love” with cricketer Virat Kohli resurfaced on social media. This has led the actress to express her discontent with media portals for bringing it back into the spotlight.

What Happened?

A media portal, Instant Bollywood, shared a snippet from one of Mrunal’s past interviews on Instagram. In the interview, she talked about her admiration for Virat Kohli. As social media users began commenting on the post, Mrunal was not pleased with the renewed attention and took to the comment section to voice her frustration. She wrote, “@instantbollywood STOP IT OK.”

Background on Mrunal’s Comment

The original comment was made while Mrunal was promoting her film Jersey, which is set in the world of cricket. She had told Etimes, “There was a time when I was madly in love with Virat Kohli. I started liking cricket because of my brother, who’s a big fan. I have fond memories of watching a match live at a stadium with him around five years ago. I remember I was wearing a blue jersey and cheering for Team India. Cut to today, I am part of a cricket-based film like Jersey. It is such a happy coincidence.”

The film, starring Shahid Kapoor, is a sports drama and a remake of the Telugu film of the same name. It tells the story of a former cricketer who returns to the game in his mid-30s to fulfill his son’s wish. Released in 2022, the film did not perform well at the box office.

Mrunal’s Upcoming Projects

Mrunal Thakur was last seen in Family Star, which starred Vijay Deverakonda and included a cast featuring Abhinaya, Vasuki, Rohini Hattangadi, and Ravi Babu, with a special appearance by Divyansha Kaushik. The film received a lukewarm response from audiences upon release. She also appeared in a cameo role in Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD, alongside Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone. Mrunal’s upcoming projects include Pooja Meri Jaan and a Sanjay Leela Bhansali production.
