The topic of controlling the level of disciplining their children in a household has long been debated among parents and children residing in urban households. The older generations tend to favor strictness while the younger ones value independence and privacy. A contentious point in this debate is how much of their lives the parents should intervene in, especially with videos of social media fame, some funny and others disgusting.
Recently, there was a viral video of a mother cutting her daughter’s hair off. That was after such a drastic step was taken allegedly to prevent the daughter from being friends with boys in college.
The girl, visibly distressed, pleaded with her mother not to cut her hair in the viral video. She cried throughout as her mother insisted that the barber trim her hair even shorter despite her daughter’s assurances that she wouldn’t engage with boys in college.

Once the video went viral, it sparked fury on social networking sites, where many users castigated the mom for her doings. Most argued that it would cause their child to nurture resentment for years to come while others labeled this as damaging or inappropriate and asserted that it was going to turn the daughter into a rebel.
