A viral video that has been widely viewed on social media shows when a real cow got replaced by a toy cow. A cow is very important during the Griha Pravesh or housewarming ritual, which is known to be believed. The cow is an avatar of Goddess Laxmi, who is known for prosperity and positive energies in life.
Bringing a real cow to an apartment is almost not possible, so people used to donate money to cow shelters instead of bringing them.
But a family has searched for a weird as well as unique solution, and they used a cow toy for the Griha Parwesh ceremony.
The family chose this path because moving a real cow up to their apartment was too difficult. During the ritual, the priest fully embraced the solution. He chanted holy prayers (shlokas), performed worship for the plastic cow, and even garlanded it like a real one.
A video of the unusual ceremony soon went viral online. It showed the cow doll, which was controlled with a remote, moving inside the house.
At one point, the toy stopped on a mat, and the priest was seen gently picking it up and placing it forward so it could continue its journey. A child nearby was also captured trying to hold the toy in his hands.
The video quickly grabbed the attention of viewers, and opinions were mixed. Some people found the toy cow to be quite adorable.
Comments included playful remarks like “Modern problem, modern solution” and “Jugaad, our lifeline.” Another user commented, “The cow is so cute here. I mean, look at it moving with small steps.”
However, other viewers were more critical. They felt that using a toy reduced the ritual's traditional significance. One critical user wrote that if you can change your rituals so easily, the ritual itself becomes "meaningless." Another called it "stupidity, not a sweet gesture."

Many people quickly defended the family’s choice, arguing that the intention and faith behind the ritual matter much more than the actual object used.
One individual shared a supportive comment: “It’s the heart that matters. For people trying to start a new life in a flat, it’s not very convenient to bring a real cow in... if there is a good intention and there lies faith... such harmless acts are absolutely cute and satisfying.”
Other similar comments supported this view, stating that the ritual’s power lies in the sincere intention of the heart and that “even a symbol can carry divine meaning.”
