A seller on eBay has listed a wedding dress, claiming it once belonged to former First Lady Melania Trump. The starting price is $45,000, but the seller suggests the amount could go much higher. Identified as Svjabc1, she states that she purchased the gown for $70,000 and wore it for her own wedding in 2010. However, a source told WWD that this could not be the original dress, as Melania Trump’s John Galliano-designed Dior gown remains preserved at Mar-a-Lago.
eBay Listing Details
According to the seller, the dress is the same Christian Dior creation Melania Trump wore at her 2005 wedding to Donald Trump. She describes it as featuring hand-sewn Swarovski crystals and a dramatic 13-foot-long train.
Explaining the modifications, the seller wrote, “Because Melania Trump was a size 0-2, I had to have this dress made a little bigger, as I was a size 4-6.” She also mentioned adding a new satin layer at the bottom, extra embroidery on top, and modifications to the back and straps to fit her larger chest.
To support her claim, she uploaded images of Melania Trump in the gown along with photos of the dress she is selling. However, the listing does not include a certificate of authentication. Despite this, 143 users are currently “watching” the sale, showing significant interest.
The Original Dior Wedding Dress
Melania Trump’s wedding dress remains one of the most iconic bridal gowns in fashion history. A Vogue article from 2005 detailed its extravagant design, stating that the dress was made from 300 feet of fabric and decorated with over 1,500 crystal rhinestones and pearls. Since the original gown is reportedly at Mar-a-Lago, many remain skeptical about the authenticity of the eBay listing.
