William Shakespeare once asked, “What’s in a name?” But for one Indonesian father, the answer was simple: every letter of the alphabet. In 2021, a 12-year-old boy from South Sumatra caught the world’s attention for his extraordinary name: ABCDEF GHIJK Zuzu.
His name became the talk of town after he appeared for a vaccination drive at Muara Enim district. The health workers were first convinced that the registration was a joke until they noticed his name embossed on his ID card and school attire. Photographs of his documents circulated widely on social media, and people were left both amused and surprised in equal proportion.
The lad, now known as "Adef," confirmed classmates previously teased him but reports that he has since come to accept his odd name. "It's my identity now," he said to local reporters.

The origin of the name is equally special. His dad, Zulfahmi, revealed that he coined it years prior to Adef's birth. He was an English language buff and also a fan of crosswords. He chose to mix the first eleven letters of the alphabet to form a name nobody would ever forget.
Zulfahmi jokingly said that his subsequent children could have been named NOPQ, RSTUV, and XYZ, but his wife just wouldn't agree to such unorthodox names. His other two sons were named Ammar and Attur.
