Before anything else, life is unpredictable, and sometimes functions in a way that you start to appreciate relationships with your loved ones on a deeper level. Where some people become spiritual, others find new meaning. For Jeffery Olsen, his life completely flipped after a horrific car crash in 1997, which claimed the lives of his wife and son.
On the fateful night, Jeffery was driving home from work with his wife, Tamara, 14-month-old son Griffin, and seven-year-old son Spencer.
When exhaustion took control for a moment, the car flipped over, and Tamara and Griffin were killed. Jeffery was critically injured with a broken spine and an amputated leg. One of his arms was almost cut off.

A Glimpse of the Afterlife
Jeffery reportedly had an intense experience amid the chaos. He claimed to be surrounded by a bright light, where he saw his wife, Tamara, uninjured. She said to him, “You cannot remain here. You must return. Spencer needs you.” He felt her presence pushing him back to rescue the other son, who was still alive.
Jeffery recalled another episode in the trauma centre, when he viewed his broken body and felt guilty of being responsible for the crash. Over six months, he underwent 18 surgeries and partial paralysis.

Meeting His Son Again
One sleepless night in the hospital, Jeffrey claimed to have a second remarkable vision. He was in that homely light again. There, he was confronted with baby Griffin in a cradle.
Jeffrey held him close and felt guilty until there was a divine presence that hugged him, telling him that it wasn’t his fault. “Deep unconditional love was visibly evident in that light,” he shared, remembering that he kissed his son goodbye before releasing him.

Finding Strength to Live
Although grief never departed from him, these encounters instilled Jeffrey with the strength to go on. Today, almost three decades down the line, his son Spencer has a child and is married. All three of them have co-authored a book, Where Are You, recounting their journey of loss, love, and recovery.
