Man Who Leapt 11 Storeys From Cruise Ship Opens Up About His Harrowing Experience

In 2019, Nick Naydev drew attention for this stunt when, standing on a boat off the starboard aft-corner of the cruise ship The Symphony of the Seas, which was docked in Nassau, Bahamas, he jumped from the 11th floor into the ocean. Nick miraculously survived spending the night drinking with friends and as an after-effect, sustained some pain in his tailbone and neck. Reflecting on the experience, he said he was lucky that his injuries were not as bad and that he blanked out when falling into the water.

Speaking to Inside Edition, he said of the experience: “I remember hitting the water, impact was pretty big because it was pretty high up. It impacted my tailbone and my neck pretty hard, luckily it wasn’t anything serious. Nothing was really going through my mind.”. I’m like, ‘I gotta do this, and just two seconds later, I just jumped and didn’t really think it through. We were drinking quite a bit the previous night so I was still feeling the effects of the alcohol. I hope I don’t inspire anybody to do this because it is very dangerous, I mean they’ll think this is a joke.'”

After the jump, Nick was pulled out by a small boat and taken back to the ship, where he was taken away again by the crew. He was let to book his own way back to Miami later on. Owen Torres, a Royal Caribbean Spokesperson said that “This was stupid and reckless behavior and he and his companions have been banned from ever sailing with us again. We are exploring legal action.”

Nick later confirmed the fall was about 100 feet but was still full of disbelief over how the video went viral: “I am totally amazed at how this video has spread throughout the Internet. I did not think this through before I jumped. My idea was this would be a good laugh for my friends, and I would just swim back to shore and continue my vacation.”

Nick was jumping over cars often,” Konstantin Kryachun, a friend who recorded the jump, said. “We managed to do such jumps several times before; we did not care about what would happen after the jump, our main attention was to record the moment and let it go viral.”.
