A video of a salon thali thief quickly went viral on social media, an act of theft that was recorded on CCTV of a salon where a guy was found stealing money from a pooja thali that was kept at the reception counter.
Ghar Ke Kalesh, which is an X account, posted the video with the description, "Look at that T-shirt guy near the counter."
Within the video, which has crossed over one million views so far, the man is noticed quietly collecting money from the pooja plate when the receptionist was busy chatting with another individual. He wrapped the cash in a cloth and turned his face away before seeming to collect it. The two men soon exited with no suspicion raised.
Viewers, though, observed the figure of the security guard who had been behind them. Although he appeared to see the act, he later went back to his gatehouse without acting.
Social media users raised questions about the security guard's actions in the post's comments section.
"I believed that the security guard saw the thief, but he allowed him to escape," wrote a user.
Another commented, "If they had employed this talent for some positive reasons, India would have been much better off today."
Some of the users drew attention to broader social problems: "In India, individuals don't know the significance of lines. They consistently move sideways if a gap is present on the counter. This is strange. I have observed it in several places."
Another summarized it as, "It is not just a crime. It's a betrayal of faith and trust."
A debate concerning minor theft, social conduct, and the absence of elementary manners in society is what this viral clip has now instigated.
