Even before the Indian government’s GST 2.0 was implemented in the country on September 22, 2025 local tapris and shopkeepers across rural areas and villages began start selling the cigarettes at an inflated rate, confirmed a man in his viral interaction with popular guru Aniruddhacharya.
A video on the internet went viral of hilarious conversation between Aniruddhacharya and one of his followers. This bald man told the famed guru that he is having trouble quitting smoking and tends to consume 10-12 cigarettes a day. As the curious Aniruddhacharya asked him a few questions, the follower claimed he tends to indulge in extra cigarettes because of his friends, whom he later introduced to the popular guru and blamed for his developing this habit.
Follower’s Interaction With Aniruddhacharya On Smoking and GST 2.0
When Aniruddhacharya asked the man whether he believed smoking was bad for health or not? The follower replied in the affirmative but said the local shop owners tell it won’t be harmful as long as he consumes the cigarette without inhaling the smoke. He then informed the guru that the small tapris near his residence had begun selling a Rs 10 cigarette for Rs 12 even before the Indian government imposed the GST 2.0.

The man told Aniruddhacharya that he had fought with one of the local shop owners, who revealed his secret to his father, but still sold him cigarettes the next day.

Internet Stunned Over Man’s Confession To Aniruddhacharya
The video of the conversation between Aniruddhacharya and one of his followers grabbed attention on the internet, as social media users were alerted by the man’s self-confessed heavy indulgence in smoking, while they also talked about the careless and humorous attitude of him and his friends.
“The way they’re laughing, shows they’re just doing Tamasha. They’re not there in good faith,” noted a user.
“Friends or enemies?” quipped an individual.
Someone else focused on how the man kept dragging the conversation and didn’t even let Aniruddhacharya settle the matter. “Babaji be like :- sawal bhi khud puchta hai jawab bhi khud deta hai (baba ji must be thinking, he asks the questions and answers them himself),” they said.
The conversation, however, highlighted misuse of GST 2.0 as the local tapris began selling cigarettes to customers at inflated rates even before the government’s move. The Indian government’s GST Council had imposed 40 per cent tax, up from the previous 28 per cent tax slab, on cigarettes and tobacco products, including pan masala, cigars, cigarillos, hookah and other similar products under GST 2.0.
