Madhya Pradesh Youth Offers Cigarette to Lord Kaal Bhairav, Triggers Internet

A controversial video has emerged on social media showing a youth offering a cigarette to the statue of Lord Kaal Bhairav at the Shri Kaal Bhairav Mandir in Gwarighat, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The video, posted by Facebook user Akash Goswami, quickly went viral. In the clip, the youth places the cigarette near the idol’s mouth, claiming that the idol is smoking. He also encourages other devotees to offer cigarettes as ‘bhog’ to Lord Kaal Bhairav, suggesting that doing so would fulfill their wishes.

The act has been widely criticized on social media as “disrespectful” and “inappropriate.” Netizens slammed the youth for his actions, which many considered offensive.

In response to the viral video, Jabalpur police have assured that strict action will be taken. Additional SP Anand Kaladgi confirmed that an investigation has begun, and a special team has been formed to address the issue. The incident has prompted widespread public outrage, with many questioning the youth’s behavior.

Notably, Lord Kaal Bhairav is one of the few Hindu deities to whom liquor is traditionally offered as ‘prasad or bhog,’ but the act of offering cigarettes has sparked intense debate.
