A gym in Binzhou, Shandong Province, China, has recently introduced a highly controversial challenge offering a massive prize for extreme weight loss of 50 kg: a luxury Porsche Panamera car.
China Gym Exciting Announcement
The gym announced that whoever manages to lose a tremendous 50 kilograms—about 110 pounds—in just three months gets to win the car.
The contest, announced online on October 23, has attracted huge interest but has simultaneously been subjected to strong criticism by health experts who warn of serious risks coming from such fast weight loss.
Details of the Weight Loss Challenge
Organizers of the gym insist that the competition is absolutely real and has already started. They also limited the registration to just 30 participants.
According to one fitness coach surnamed Wang, around eight persons have signed up so far, with each participant required to pay a 10,000-yuan (US$1,400) registration fee for entry into a special closed training environment where their meals and accommodation are covered.
The Porsche, the grand prize, is allegedly a 2020 model and a used one, valued at around 1.1 million yuan (US$155,000), while the car will be provided by the gym owner himself.

But while the prize is certainly tempting, medical professionals have strongly spoken out against the challenge, warning about the dangers of such extreme weight loss.
This implies that one would have to lose approximately 0.5 kilograms daily, about 1.1 pounds, to shed off 50 kgs in three months’ time.
