The sighting of a supercar on Indian roads is often an event, but when a recent video claimed to show the first Lamborghini arriving in the city of Kanpur, it ignited a brief burst of local excitement that quickly turned into a viral social media fact check.
The clip, which spread rapidly on Instagram, showed a flashy luxury car later identified as a Lamborghini Aventador being carefully unloaded from a truck in the Swaroop Nagar area.Â
The car was even wrapped in a protective red cloth, adding to the drama of the "unveiling." The accompanying post proudly proclaimed this to be a landmark moment for Kanpur.
However, the celebratory mood was short-lived. Sharp-eyed social media users swiftly began questioning the video's authenticity.
The biggest clue was found in the background: several viewers pointed out signs and boards clearly displaying Kannada writing, a script commonly used in Karnataka.
This evidence strongly suggested the clip was not from Kanpur at all, but from Bengaluru, where the car's owner, a content creator named SSR Sanju, resides.
The incident serves as a humorous reminder of how easily excitement can spread misleading information online, especially when it involves aspirational symbols like supercars.
Lamborghinis are renowned for their aggressive, futuristic design characterized by sharp lines and a low-slung, aerodynamic profile. Beyond aesthetics, they feature incredible performance, often housing massive V10 or V12 engines that offer blistering speed (some reaching over 350 km/h).
